From a dog licking the screen to a flower crown that makes your eyes sparkle, Snapchat released a variety of colourful lenses for its users to share in their snaps this year.
Now, in honor of 2016 coming to a close, the social media platform has complied a list of the 10 most popular designs for the year.
The list reveals Snapchatters went wild for the dog that licks the screen, the flower crown and the filter that puts a flutter of butterflies above the head.

Snapchat first debuted the filters in September 2015 and since then, it has been reported that more than 30 million snaps using the fun ‘Lenses’ are shared each day.
However, a few of them were deemed fan favorites in 2016, and a Snapchat has shared the Top 10 list with DailyMail.com.
The most popular filters in the carousel this year were the Dog, the Flower Crown, Butterflies, the Pink Crown, the Deer, the Bee, the Frown, the Rosy-Cheek, Friend Face Swap and finally, Camera Roll Face Swap.
Lenses use object recognition to map to your face, which is able to ‘see’ your eyes and nose to precisely overlay the filter onto your selfie taken with the in-app camera.
And they also add sounds and interactive motion effects to video selfies – like the Deer.
The carousel of Lenses is updated every day with fun new additions – the only way to know if there’s a new one is to take a look.
Earlier this year Lenses for both you and a friend were introduced, for example the Dog Lens works on two people at the same time.
One of the most popular filters this year was the ‘Butterflies’ (shown with Ryan Seacrest) and it proved to be a huge hit with keen user who noticed its beautifying skills. The filter appears to slim down the face and also adds a contouring and highlighting effect to the cheekbones

The technology for Lenses comes from a San Francisco start-up called Looksery, which was acquired by Snapchat.
To use Lenses in Snapchat, users go to the Camera screen and switch to the selfie camera.
Once active, users should press and hold the image of their face to make the Lens options appear below.
Users can then swipe through the menu of possible options and select one to see a preview of the effect.

To take a grab of the image, users should then click the capture button to take a photo, or press and hold the capture button to record a video.
When Snapchat first debuted the filters, it included a selection of lenses that users could buy for $0.99 cents that were displayed alongside the free lenses in the carousel – it was called the ‘Lens Store’.

One of the favorites this year was the ‘Butterflies’, released in August, and it proved to be a huge hit with keen Snapchatters who noticed its beautifying skills.

Eyes appear to be both bigger and brighter, and a veil of glittery sparkles shimmers down the face.
In September, Snapchat opened up a new world of geofilters for its users – templates they customize themselves for birthdays, weddings and other fun celebrations.

Snapchatters can access the design tools through Snapchat’s on-demand page, choose a theme and add their own colours and text to personalize the template for their special event.
And in honor of the holidays the firm has added templates that are themed after the festive season.
Users can choose geofilters with ‘2017’ for ringing in the New Year, among other options.
‘Whether it’s New Year’s Eve or holiday sweater, Geofilters are perfect for any get-together,’ shares Snapchat.
‘For your party or celebration — wherever it may be, Say ‘Happy Holidays!’ with an ODG’.
