At last, a bit of nice news – albeit some tinged with with sadness.
Brighton and Hove Albion star Anthony Knockaert was the talk of social media on Tuesday afternoon, when he scored the third goal in the Seagulls’ 3-0 win over Queens Park Rangers .
The Frenchman’s strike secured the victory which took his side to the top of the Championship table, but it wasn’t because of his goal that people were talking about him.
It was his celebration which was the most memorable part.
Because after scoring, the 25-year-old Frenchman raced to the touchline and pulled out a picture of his recently deceased father Patrick.
Knockaert then kissed the photo and hoisted it to the sky.
It was a very poignant moment, and fans on Twitter were quick to pay tribute to him.
Knockaert first moved to English football with Leicester in 2012, and has been one of the key players in Brighton’s promotion push this season.
Will Brighton win promotion this season?
