A mum has warned parents after she says a strange man contacted her young daughters via their toy walkie talkies.
Mum Sharon claims a “grown man” started asking the little girls questions over the devices.
The pink Binatone Walkie Talkies were bought as a Christmas gift for the children, aged 7 and 8, Belfast Live reported .
But while testing them out, the fun is said to have taken a sinister turn.
Sharon, who did not wish to give her surname, said: “While we were figuring out how to work them with the kids, we came across friends from across the estate.
“We thought this was funny so we decided to change the channels to allow both sets of kids to communicate.
“But tonight a grown man was trying to talk to my girls, asking them their names and where they lived.
“They told him he was too old and they weren’t allowed to talk to strangers and changed the channel.
“But he proceeded to continue to follow them through the channels, calling himself Stephen, and wouldn’t listen, just kept asking more information.”
Sharon purchased the kids toys on Amazon, and they are also on sale via Toys R Us with eight channels available to chat on.
She says she has since taken them off her daughters and plans to return them after her quick-thinking daughter alerted them to a problem via text.
“I thought they were safe for the kids to use just among themselves but clearly not, they’ll be going back.
“I just want to warn other parents, we were very lucky our girls told us, one of them sent me a text to tell me what had happened.
“I’m still shaking with fear at what could have happened,” she added.
