A baby boy has died after his mum accidentally reversed over him in a 4X4 as she left a funeral on Christmas Eve.
The seven-month-old was lying in his pram when he was struck and run over by the vehicle in Woodridge, Queensland, Australia.
Police are not treating the incident as suspicious and have described the child’s death as a ‘tragic accident’.
The baby was rushed to a nearby hospital following the incident on Friday but died a short time later.
Senior Sergeant Tony Jackson told the ABC the woman was leaving a funeral at the church when she backed over the pram.
He said: “It’s a terrible tragedy.
“The woman is being cared for by police and is assisting them with their investigation.
“It’s a timely reminder to parents if they have children that are in prams or walking around vehicles [to] ensure that they know exactly where they are.”
The mother was not injured in the collision.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.
